Differential housing mould

Differential housing mould

The differential housing is made of ductile iron and is internally fitted with a vehicle differential gear assembly. Its interrupted cutting during roughing reflects the difficulty of machining. Surface roughness and tolerances must be in accordance with customer standards, and custom combination tools such as turning bits, drill bits and reamers are required for machining operations.

Initial Process Design Since this part material is ductile iron, the design process should first consider the shrinkage defects that may occur in the future. In view of the characteristics of this part, not only the design of the riser should be considered, but also how to divide it to facilitate production. Because the part has a smaller diameter and a larger diameter flange, the other end has a larger diameter and a thicker wall, and there are four sets of cast teeth inside the part, as shown in 4. There is a large wall thickness at the large diameter of the flange face and the bottom, so this must be the hot section of the entire part, that is, the position where the shrinkage is most likely to occur.
